Oreland C. Joe – Ute Camp

painting by artist Oreland C. Joe
Ute Camp on Red Mountain Pass
11.5″ x 23.5″ • Oil • $3,900

The Utes occupied most of the Rocky Mountain region. Protectors of the front range in Colorado and Wasatch mountains in Utah. Summer camps high in the mountains were often occupied by small Ute family bands.
The scene in the painting is a simple one. Beautiful mountains and streams, quiet times. The colors tell it all. A time of peace before the coming of the Eastern people. Before many changes came to be.

Red Mountain pass is an ancient Ute trail leading from one side of the mountain to the other.
